concert crowdA health and safety body has called for improved crowd controls at music and sports events after a number of injuries following crowd surges.

Most big gigs are well organised but some events fall”well below” safety standards, the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health said.

A poll of 3,000 fans showed that one in three feared for their safety, many blaming overcrowding, fighting, alcohol misuse or rowdiness. More than one in 10 said they had been injured at an event.
